We would like to invite you to be a part of our annual conference at the University of Tennessee Visitor’s Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. Settled in the UT campus near Neyland Stadium, the center offers the full Tennessee Volunteer experience.

Lunch will be planned and prepared by Tyler White and the students of Pellissippi State Community College Culinary Arts program.

Plan to join us at this wonderful event! In order to celebrate Knoxville and East Tennessee, local appliance and food manufacturers will be sponsoring our event by providing door prizes and wonderful goodie bags.

Call for Presentations 2014 TAFCS State Meeting

TAFCS announces the call for Abstracts of Research for oral presentation, Scholarly/Creative Showcase of Programs, Research Poster Presentations, and Application—Make and Take are to be considered for presentation at the TAFCS- State Convention in Knoxville, TN, on April 11, 2014. The conference will be held at UT Visitor’s Center, 2712 Neyland Drive, Knoxville, TN. The theme of the conference supports our national theme which is Family and Consumer Sciences: Global Gateway to Healthy and Sustainable Families. In addition, our Tennessee affiliate welcomes submission regarding school & community education topics such as financial literacy, and the importance of professional credentialing.

Four categories are available for presentation:

  • Research/educational (oral) presentations
  • Research poster presentations
  • Scholarly/Creative Showcase of programs
  • Application—Make Take Sessions are available for professionals

Students may also submit work for display or presentation.

The proposal to change/delete the foundation course Family and Consumer Sciences and to change course standards in other Family and Consumer Sciences courses by the Tennessee Department of Education Career Technical Education division and Tennessee State School Board has come to the attention of the Tennessee Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (TAFCS), an affiliate of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences.
